Performance Appraisal

It might be more accurate to describe a job performance evaluation as a memo rather than a letter. The evaluation is written by a supervisor who reviews it verbally with his superior and then with the employee.

Letter 1

Dear [[Recipient]]:

Luke Darcy has developed at an accelerated pace during the past two years. In his capacity as Sales Service Manager, he has displayed much decision-making ability. Leadership is one of his strongest qualities.

Although the youngest person in the Sales Service Department, both in age and seniority, Luke was able to assume command upon promotion to his present position. He is rated as a No. 1 performer.

Luke has indicated a desire for line management and is willing to relocate. He is capable at this time of functioning as a Field Sales Manager.

Letter 2

Dear [[Recipient]]:

Evelyn Lory  is ready for a promotion to Laboratory Manager.

She has worked under my supervision for five years as a laboratory technician, many times assuming my responsibilities when I was away. She is quite capable in that position. Her technical knowledge in both chemical and physical testing fields is without peer.

Lory has received excellent training in cost control and administrative management. She is ready to move upward.

Letter 3

NOTICE

We are happy to announce that Zdenka Podkapova has been promoted to Finance Manager. She has been our Accounting Manager for the past four years in charge of all accounting and statistical reports.

In her new position she will assume the additional responsibilities of corporate banking, capital structure, and stockholder relations.

Congratulations, Zdenka. You have our full support.

Letter 4

Dear [[Recipient]]:

Congratulations on your promotion.  It has always been a pleasure working with someone as competent as you.

We look forward to more of the same fine work in the future.

Letter 5

Dear [[Recipient]]:

It was great to hear of your recent promotion.  There is no doubt you have earned it, and I am confident it will not be the last.

I have always felt you handled the problems we sent you exceptionally well.

We look forward to working with you in the future.
